We're All Alright

Pres are over and done with and I thought the went very well. David O' Doherty next Friday and Wednesday night tv is back to normal with criminal minds returning. Life is good.

Except; Skins is gone mega depressing. I was in bad mood after watching it and I really wish Effy had died, selfish little bitch. Who's up next? I hope it's JJ.

Friday evening was wonderful. Today was also nice, I got tights and earrings and a bagel, so I'm happy and full. I even accosted some well dressed strangers in town in order to feature them in a new segment on my other blog.

Yes. Life is good. Picture time. I watched six episodes of That 70's Show this morning because I woke up early, I'd forgotten how good it is.

Ch-Ch-Check It Out.

New blog. It's a fashion-y beauty thing. It's small now, but like the wolf pack in The Hangover, it will grow.

http://gladragsatdawn.blogspot.com/

About the title. I wanted 'Handbags At Dawn' but that was taken, and the word 'handbag' reminds me of that song Handbags and the Gladrags. Ere go . . Yeah.

Examens Blancs

So far so good with the aul' pre exams. I'm feeling lovely and relaxed and really looking forward to DOD.

I wish I had money to spend on clothes so that I wouldn't ever have dilemmas when the zip of my 'go to' dress breaks. I wish I had money in general actually. Although then maybe I wouldn't appreciate it.

I hate being finished early in exams because my mind wanders. I started wondering what my life would be like if I could speak every language in the world, a gift of tongues sort of deal like. Or what would the world be like if humans never stopped growing, if you just kept growing your whole life. That'd suck.

Skins was better this week. 'I'm Katie fucking Fitch, who the fuck are you?' What a line. And, unsurprisingly, a facebook group of the same name was created mere seconds later.

Can we just skip the whole of March? Please? At least there's things happening in April, there's nothing in March.

I want nude heels, or navy ones. I should have bought both when they were in Penney's. But alas, story of my actual life, 'I was going to do this . . But then I didn't.' I'm all ideas and no motivation. I have a ridiculous amount of navy dresses, I should have navy shoes.

Comment me suggestions for summer plans. Cheap ones.

Panda Wish List

Blah Blah Blah

Midterm break, you're supposed to be fun. Now you're filled with boring study and trying to come up with art ideas.

But at least it's Pancake Tuesday, which I honestly prefer to Valentine's Day. I'm so full of lemony sugary goodness but it was worth it. I haven't been this full since that Subway in Dublin. Being too full is the worst feeling in the world. Blech.

Grey's Anatomy tonight. Yay for McGinge who has become my new favourite, couldn't believe he was in PJATLT.

Watched Stardust again today, maybe for the fourth time. Such a good, innocent little movie. Nothing like a bit of fantasy violence and Robert Deneiro zaniness to brighten a February Day.

Kiss Me Quick

It's that time of year again, when Hallmark rake it in and flower shops go into over drive. Does it have to be Valentine's Day to send flowers? Sigh, I love flowers and day of the year. They're so pretty. The cards with pictures of kissing animals are nice too. But again, penguins touching wings would make me smile any day.

Had I the heaven's embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half-light,

I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.

Pretty appropriate Valentine's Day lesson Mr. Yeats. You don't have to spend a lot of money to get something meaningful.

Fós Beo

Thank you God of pre papers for making the Irish essay topics ridiculously easy. I'm now convinced that seen as racism, the recession and the education system are the only essays I know, I can work them into any title.

History tomorrow, come on Johnson and Vietnam. Down to the depths with Parnell though please, I'm not a fan.

C'mon summer, I'm sick of coats. I want to start wearing cardigans again, because I feel bulky if they're under my coat. Y'know? Summer also means wedges and heart shaped glasses. And hopefully a couple of trips to the beach. I must get a playsuit to wear during the summer also.

David O' Doherty again? I think so. Hopefully we'll get to hear the end of the story about Jupiter's moons. I'm sure it would have been funny.

Dunnes have really pulled up their socks when it comes to going out clothes. I was sorely tempted to buy a black body con skirt for seven euro even though I'm slightly terrified of them. Alas there were only 8's left. Boo. I need money to buy new black heels, my old faithfuls are getting a little too rough around the edges. Sigh.

Losing My Mind

I am so frazzled. I'm not even stressed. I'm just frazzled. When I was baking a cake I put the egg shell in the mixing bowl and the gooey bit in the bin.

Deep breath. Phew.

Pre's starting tomorrow. Eeek. N0t really, it'll all be grand, except Stair na Gaeilge but I've two weeks to learn that. At least Pres will be a break from regular school, and they'll pass quickly. And then it'll be March and the end will really be in sight then.

Four months and this will all be over. Nothing but a rather unpleasant memory.

And in time, this too, shall pass.

We had our photo taken Wednesday. The man had a squeeky duck puppet to make his smile. It worked. Everyone looked extra fancy and lovely with their ties done up and their hair all nice.

I cried in PE on Friday like a baby after I got hit in the head with a hockey stick. Yet another reason to add to the 'Why I Hate Hockey' list. It's crazy the only sports the Abbey provides for girls is hockey and tag rugby. Oh and first year basketball. And we fail at them all. While the boys go off gallivanting to hurling matches every other day. Grr.

I don't feel so good after eating some cake mix. I think it's because it's full of raw eggs. But it just tastes so good.

Note to self: wear my glasses more in case I go truly blind and have to wear them all the time. Because I can read the little sky synopsis anymore without them.

Yay for LOST's return. Looks like some answers are heading my way. Is anyone except Jess, Aonghus and I even watching it anymore? Though I've truly only stuck with it from spite. Skins on the other hand is a massive disappointment. I think it's because I'm older than them now. And they annoy me with the apparent lack of money but never ending cycle of Topshop clothes. Pfft. Though Emily is a doll.

Also watched another dismal TV3 reality tv show, Take Me Out. That poor Rian. She stays in to the end every time but never wins.

Tut tut tut. Must hot boys always smoke?

Ramble On

I love baths. Really love them. They're so relaxing, especially without all the fancy salts and soaps and things that sometimes give me a headache from their smell.

I should be writing this post
as gaeilge seen as my mock oral is tomorrow. But most of the words I know in Irish I couldn't spell correctly to save my life.

Let's rewind my life almost three years and say a certain day had never happened, and you and I had never met. What a different person I would be.
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.

Eventually, everyone I love will die. Or I will die first. I must resign myself to that fact. But at the same time, I'll have children, people I know will have children. As Mufasa said, we are all part of the great circle of life. Cheesy but true.

Death, in it's own way is a beautiful part of life. Because no one ever really dies do they? The concept of not existing is so impossible to understand that this can't just be it. The greatest adventure of all.

Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I did not die.

Wish List And Ramble

Yayz for half days. And Newgrange, though that's not until Wednesday. BUT major first when it comes to Abbey Community College, we are allowed wear our own clothes on the trip :O I kid you not. Albeit retreats, this has never before happened. And so comes the 'what should I wear debate', because most people from school never see my normal clothes. But most of them are bitchy and probably won't like them anyway, so why bring hardship on myself? Sigh.

Though today was bit of a hair-mare, things are going good when it comes to 'the do'. It's grown, and now I have a decent straightener I can wear extensions I spent too much money on and rarely use.

I aspire to this.

Totally turned against MLIA, mainly because I've decided the people who write stories on it I wouldn't like in real life, and also because the stories have just become so incredible they can hardly be called 'average'.

I must get out to TK Maxx or some other place I can get a lovely maxi dress for the summer before all the nice summer stock is gone. I bought a
beautiful one last summer in that shop in town where everything was €2.99, but unsurprisingly the zip broke when I unzipped it at home to try it on. They're just so summery and pretty and girly and go so well with gladiator sandals, big sunglasses and a long necklace. Alas, I will find one.

Take me back to Dublin, even though it was extreme in temperatures and that skipping show was terrible. It was lovey dovey and wonderful. Awh.

Watching Moulin Rouge for probably the hundredth time at the moment. It's hard to look at Ewan McGregor the same way though after seeing Trainspotting last week in which he wore a belly top for most of the scenes. And climbed down a toilet of course. Grimace.

Crazy Little Thing Called Love

'We Will Rock You' was so good. Especially the fella who did all the jumping around and high kicks. What a legend. This whole weekend just went perfectly, although the Sat Nav did direct us into a bus and taxi lane. Not cool Lucy.

Today I baked a coffee cake, the icing dripped off the top onto the sides and it didn't look too good, a bit like the cake the fairies tried to make in Sleeping Beauty, but it tasted good.

One week of school then pre's. Where has January gone? I have a mountain of Irish to learn, an insurmountable amount really. Panic is setting in a little. Deep breaths. In through the nose and out through the mouth.

I wish I still had yoga on Tuesdays. I need to find some other sort of exercise that will help me sleep, because I'm sleeping terribly atm.

On a wonderful positive note, I got a debs dress. It's long and black and looks nothing like the one below but I like to think Marilyn Monroe would approve of it's bust enhancing abilities.

Oh Amazon hurry up and bring me my books, there's only so many times I can reread the ones I already own. And I'm in desperate need of distraction at night now that I'm logging off the Internet at nine o' clock at the latest in an attempt to tell my mind sleep is coming so start shutting down and stop running through Global Interdependence and the causes of World War II and all sorts of other things.

Yay for Topshop jewellery being reduced. Got a lovely silver Aztec style chandelier necklace that was €40 for €6 and some bracelets for €1.50. Job.

Oh Ed Speleers, you and Jeremy Irons' voice combined made a truly terrible film very bearable. Here are some pictures of him.

All my future potential kiddie names are being shot down just because they're unusual. Having a very common name makes me all the more determined that my own children will be individual.

What A Long Week

Wow, considering I've only been in school for three days, this week felt like the longest week of my life.

Pre's starting in three weeks. Yippee. Though I'm not worried, honestly I'm not. Doing the work as you go along really pays off, I'm not stressed about exams and there's no Leaving Cert induced panic forcing me to do crazy things like buy Less Stress More Success. C'mon like.

Dublin next Friday, can't wait. Hopefully I'll get a little H&M in, as I've no money for Topshop. Boo. I must really start internet banking, easier to keep track of my finances, or lack there of, and all that. A plague on whoever decided that twenty is the minimum that can be taken out of an ATM. When I need less than a fiver, why would I want a twenty? I'll just end up spending it.

Watching Mean Girls atm, I forgot how much I love that film, it never gets old. And Rachel McAdams is just so adorable, dimples and all. Sometimes I think I'd like to have dimples, but I don't really have the right shape face, it'd be a bit weird . .

Getting up in the morning has become more difficult than I recalled. How will I function on my own in just a few months? Dragging
myself out of bed? Impossible. Though I will never succumb to Red Bull. Bleucch. It's awful.

On the topic of college, CAO is all done and dusted. The next time I hear from them will hopefully be with acceptances. Arts in Cork is no.1, though that's no big shock, then Dublin then a few other bits in Cork. With Amy all set for Journalism and New Media in NUIM, Jess undecided, Maynooth claiming Laura as well and Breffni all set for Limerick, I'll be toddling off to Cork without the girls who have pretty much become my right arm. I don't really mind going it alone but still, a friendly face and all that . . .

Start of a whole new adventure.

Stir Crazy

I'm sick of being in my house. What is the point of three extra days of holidays when the awful roads prevent me from going anywhere? Watching Inglorious Basterds again atm. Forgot how funny it could be. Though I think history examiners everywhere will have to trawl through many 'Jew Hunter' and Vichy Government research topics.

Breffni and I officially head for London on the 18th of June, our flights booked and everything. I could not be more excited. It's just another reason to add to the ever growing pile, for wanting sixth year to just be finished.

Resolutions

1. Eat Slower
My worst habit, worse than cracking my knuckles. I will endeavour to eat at a normal pace in 2010 in order to avoid the 'are you finished already?' when I'm eating with people outside my family. Because it's rather embarrassing, and sitting idle while others eat makes people nervous I think.

2. Say 'Yes' more
I will not allow laziness or minor difficulties to stop me from doing things. I'm going to say yes to invitations before people stop bothering to invite me. More movies, more nights out and more nights in.

3. Study
Self explanatory. But also I resolve not to allow it to consume my life. I'm on the final stretch, secondary school wise, and I intend to enjoy it.

4. Take more pictures
Especially idiotic 'we're freaks' ones. I have a shinynew camera now, I've no excuse.

Happy new year, Ciara x

A Merry Little Christmas

In evading the inevitable mushroom cloud of cigar smoke that accompanies Christmas in a house full of smokers I had the lovely experience of finding a present I hadn't opened. It turned out to be slipper socks and a hair set, which was nice (:

So glad I didn't head to town last night, I hear it was the usual Stephen's night, too busy and full of knacks. Instead a few bottles down 'the local' was just perfect. So much for 'we stop serving at half eleven' when it's two o' clock.

Then up relatively early this morning to hit the sales which were a massive disappointment. All I got was two shirt dresses and an admittedly lovely handbag. River Island was little over sized sunglasses and Ugg boots at dawn. Madness. I'm regretting not buying the shiny black leggings, they might have made a nice contrast with florals. But alas, they are a dime a dozen any time of the year.

New Year's Eve, anyone have plans somewhere a little less far reaching than Dunmore East? Because a combination of having no where to stay, work until at least eleven and no lift out means I will more than likely be ringing in 2010 with Reeling In The Years.

I'll be attending a dinner party on Monday chez Cliodhna, how very grown up.

Resolution time is fast approaching as per usual I will make many and keep none.

TRY

Hello Blog my old friend, I apologise for my absence of late, True Blood has taken over my evenings as I feared.

This blog is for Breffni as requested, Breffni's the best girl really, and it's her birthday. Yay! Night out tmw? Maybe, Idk yet. I do have a dress, and I've been looking for an excuse to wear it.

I went to Avatar last night and as per typical escapades with Eoghan, something went wrong. This time the hiccup was that it was sold out, but four hours late we saw it, and it was great, unlike any other film I've seen. A little thin when it came to the plot, but the special effects more than made up for it, talk about 3D being the way forward.

Do you think there's any chance of a white one? I'd like to think so, but we're just as likely to have a heat wave or a monsoon. This is Ireland.

I'm lucky in my life, I'm talking felix felicis lucky.

Holidays Are Comin'

Where does the time go? Christmas is nearly here and I'm proid to say I'm ready on time as usual.

Friday was fun. It was just so nice after exams and stress and work to just go out and have a drink and a dance and girly moments and bad photos and just let go.

Today was a lovely day, thank you very much Mr. O' Keefe for giving us all crisps and chocolate just because it's christmas. What a lovely thing to do (:

I can't write properly. This blog isn't as expressive or as flowing as it usually is. I owe this to the fact that I got 72% on my English Christmas test because I 'misinterperated' the diary entry. God forbid I should think outside the box. And I know 72% is not terrible, far from it, but it's the worst I've ever gotten in English. Ever. And that kind of thing is important to me. But, it's just Christmas tests. It's not the big LC.

I'm so excited f0r Christmas and a camera that works inside.
