Philosophical Ramblings.

So I'm a bit sick of this 30 Day thing already so I'mma give it a rest for a while and just ramble about the last few days. People seemed to like that.

So over the last week there has been ups and downs. Extreme highs and extreme lows. No, not that kind, none of them drug induced I can assure you.

I've had a taste of the summer I have sprawling before me, of parties and memories and photos and love.

Don't be afraid of change, embrace it.

One thing I have realised is that life is short, you have to make the most of it before you wake up one morning and realise you've lived for seventy years and have nothing to show for it but regrets. I want no regrets. I want to achieve greatness, not necessarily in an obvious way, but in a way that means everything to me. Maybe I'll be a great mam, a great wife, a great painter, a great writer, a great cake baker, a great dresser, a great teacher, a great bird watcher. Who knows, I certainly don't at this point in my life.

More than anything, I want to be great at being me. I want to always be true to myself and to others. I want to dance on the beach at night, I want to pick flowers in the spring, I want to have friends I've loved all my life, who know me better than I know myself. I want to change the world, even if the world means one person. I want to travel, discover. I want to write books, even if they're never read by anyone but myself. More than anything, I want to be happy, but never at the expense of someone I love.

Day 04 → Your favourite book.

This is an easy one, Harry Potter, the series in general but if I had to pick one, it'd be the Prisoner Of Azkaban.

Harry Potter and I have grown up together, ever since I was seven and there must have been some sort of present mix up because Scott received Books 1-3 as a present. I subsequently took them, read them in the wrong order, and then it began. We spent many happy years together.

I remember going in to the midnight releases and staying up all night to read the newest one. When the series ended I felt like I'd lost a friend, it was the end of an era.

I love Harry Potter and I always will.

Procrastinating Packing

The day has finally come.

Day 03 → Your favourite television program.

Hmm 'tis a difficult one yet again. I hope these get easier to choose.

I'm going to say LOST. LOST and I have a love - hate relationship. I stuck it out of spite, all the way to the very end, unlike ye of little faith who copped out halfway through Season 3.

However, the last series redeemed LOST in my eyes. There were answers, but questions still remained, and anyone who didn't expect that has been watching a different show for the last six years. Six years.

The summer before second year I started watching LOST. Many things have happened since then, I've gone new places, met new people, I have discovered myself and fallen in love harder than I ever thought possible. But throughout it all, there was one constant, LOST.

The final episode: The answers were just so heartbreakingly simple. They weren't chosen because they were talented or even all that special, but because they were alone. They needed the island as much as the island needed them. How poetic.

I had one big problem with the last few episodes, there is no way that cute high cheek boned little black haired boy ever grew into the adult Man In Black. It's just not possible. I point the blame finger at casting.

I'll glad it's over, finally. But I'll miss sending Aonghus theories and a 'I don't understand' texts every Thursday night. It's been an experience.

Since he first appeared in Season 2, Desmond has been one of my favourite characters. He's remained consistent, unlike Sayid who later went crazy. Desmond's faith that things would all work out was inspiring.

"See you in another life, brotha"

Day 02 → Your favourite movie.

This is pretty easy because I don't watch many movies, which narrows down my choices. My favourite movie is The Notebook, simply because it's a beautiful story.

It's the perfect mix of sweetness, humor, heartbreak and above all, love.
Is it arrogant for me to say I see myself in such a perfect story? Maybe that's the point of the movie, that people can identify with it. Coupled with the clothes, the hair, the dream house, the sweeping music and that scene when Ryan Gosling is fixing the roof, well it's just perfect.

We watched it in religion class towards the end of the year when we were studying relationships and Ms Doherty described it as 'an ideal love story' and I couldn't agree more. The message of the film, that love can overcome any obstacle, even death, is wonderfully uplifting.

I haven't the novel that the movie is based on, because I'm afraid it will make me think less of the film.

Day 01 → Your favourite song.

Ok, never an easy one. I have several favourite songs that I like for different reasons.

But, purely for the feel good factor and because it's brilliant to sing along to, I'm going to say Mr Brightside by The Killers.

The Killers are a band I've liked for a long time and, regardless of what everyone else seems to think, I thought Sam's Town was a good album.

It's a song everyone seems to know the words to and it's always great to dance around to. it reminds me of second year when I used to go to all those Battle Of The Bands gigs and dodgy discos. Good times.

This song came in in Escape on grad night and it was the highlight of the night.

Destiny is calling me
Open up my eager eyes
'Cause I'm Mr Brightside

Ramblings Return

Hey blog, it's been a while. Again.

So there has been many happenings since the last post.

One:
Leaving Cert has begun and nearly ended for me. So far so good, though I'm almost afraid to say that in case I jinx it. Just History, French and Art History left to go. I'd be happy with a B in the latter. However, fingers crossed for an A in French and History.

Two:
The MTV Movie Awards, Twilight swept the board yet again. It's only two weeks to Eclipse, I must book my ticket plenty in advance. Oh gosh I'm excited.

Three:
On Friday I leave for London with Breffni and shall fulfill dreams that have been the bulk of our conversations for the past several months.

Four:
Summer is nearly here! Yay! How wonderful life better be after these exams. I officially have an Oxegen ticket and many other plans for the summer. Weather depending. I am determined not to let this summer be another 'I was going to do this . . . but then I didn't.' There shall been many parties, many nights on the town, many movies, many BBQs, many cycles, many driving lessons and two debs. Yay!

C'est tout pour maintenant. Bonne chance pour demain.

Weather

Such lovely weather but alas, no tan, just burn. I had a blissful weekend, confirmation on Saturday, the ice cream man came and then I had chips with my mam on the prom then we drove home with the windows open and The Beatles blaring.

Then today some nice lazing around and McDonald's, rather unhealthy food wise weekend.

Also I've gotten good at cutting tshirts, so hopefully I'll get to wear some of my updated clothes if the weather continues.

To buy next weekend: Oxegen ticket.
Happy days.

Advice

“Because, that’s the thing about love, really. No one will love you how you want to be loved, they’ll love you in the only ways they know how. Life throws everyone down drastically different paths so how can we expect everyone to love in the same way? The person you’ll spend your lifetime with will love you in their way and you’ll love in yours, and maybe you’ll meet in the middle and it’ll last. None of us know what we’re doing, you see, we’re just fumbling for matches in the dark. If you’re lucky, you might eventually just strike the right one.”

Update

Oh gosh, my promise to blog more has not been fulfilled. But things change now.

Many things have happened in the last few weeks to contribute to my general happiness, I turned 18, had a lovely birthday party, received a tea set, got my tragus pierced, read some panda facts, read The Book Thief, learned French formal letters, perfected my hair curling with a straightener technique, found a wonderful new website www.yayeveryday.com, did some good life drawing and good art in general, lazed around talking, came second the the three legged race, ate the world's best bagel, added to my charm bracelet considerably and as of today, it's officially one month to London with Breffni.

So because of my lack of bloggage, I've had a back up of pretty pictures on my compootah, I will share these pictures with you folk of the Internet right now:

Long Time No See

Hey blog, it's been a while. Quite a while, more than a month actually which is just disgraceful. It's nice to be doing this again.

Well since the 21st of March I've been filling my blogging time with rewatching QAF and dare I say it . . . jogging. Yes, me, jogging. Every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

More to follow.

A Ramble Down Memory Lane

At the time, this was probably the greatest moment of my life. It felt surreal. And looking back now, it was a good concert. That was a good time in my life. A little embarrassing fashion wise but good friends. Great friends.

Not that I'm not at a good point in my life now too, just different. A big change is coming this year but I like to think I'm not all that different. If I were to see Gerard Way in the the street tomorrow I'd have to fight the urge not to allow my inner fan girl to take over.

If the day ever comes when there's another My Chemical Romance concert in Ireland, I will go. Even if it's just for the nostalgia.

"If for one minute you think you're better than a sixteen year old girl in a Green Day t-shirt, you are sorely mistaken. Remember the first time you went to a show and saw your favorite band. You wore their shirt, and sang every word. You didn't know anything about scene politics, haircuts, or what was cool. All you knew was that this music made you feel different from anyone you shared a locker with. Someone finally understood you. This is what music is about." - GW

Also, why can't bands hold onto drummers?

Early Morning

My little brother had a sleepover party last night. Many many many small boys attended. They then proceeded to stay up ALL NIGHT forgetting that some of us have to get up for an Irish oral workshop in the morning.

So, at seven o' clock this morning when I gave up trying to get back to sleep, the aul' laptop joined me in bed. And I looked at pictures until the alarm I'd set for nine finally went off. These are the results of my search:

:
And another thing, not to toot my own horn or anything, but I pwn'd that history pre. One hundred percent. Honestly, I'm still not over the shock. Any post English Paper 1 ruffled feathers have been smoothed. Speaking of feathers, isn't that tattoo up there one of the nicest things you've ever seen? Sigh.

C'mon summer. It's getting so hard to get dressed in this current weather. 'Do I need a coat or would I get away with a jacket?' I just don't know.

Worky-work tonight. It won't be as fun as Wednesday, no selling soup and sandwiches, just serving vol au vonts. Off to eat some chips and put dry shampoo in my hair now.

Adieu.

We're All Alright

Pres are over and done with and I thought the went very well. David O' Doherty next Friday and Wednesday night tv is back to normal with criminal minds returning. Life is good.

Except; Skins is gone mega depressing. I was in bad mood after watching it and I really wish Effy had died, selfish little bitch. Who's up next? I hope it's JJ.

Friday evening was wonderful. Today was also nice, I got tights and earrings and a bagel, so I'm happy and full. I even accosted some well dressed strangers in town in order to feature them in a new segment on my other blog.

Yes. Life is good. Picture time. I watched six episodes of That 70's Show this morning because I woke up early, I'd forgotten how good it is.

Ch-Ch-Check It Out.

New blog. It's a fashion-y beauty thing. It's small now, but like the wolf pack in The Hangover, it will grow.

http://gladragsatdawn.blogspot.com/

About the title. I wanted 'Handbags At Dawn' but that was taken, and the word 'handbag' reminds me of that song Handbags and the Gladrags. Ere go . . Yeah.

Examens Blancs

So far so good with the aul' pre exams. I'm feeling lovely and relaxed and really looking forward to DOD.

I wish I had money to spend on clothes so that I wouldn't ever have dilemmas when the zip of my 'go to' dress breaks. I wish I had money in general actually. Although then maybe I wouldn't appreciate it.

I hate being finished early in exams because my mind wanders. I started wondering what my life would be like if I could speak every language in the world, a gift of tongues sort of deal like. Or what would the world be like if humans never stopped growing, if you just kept growing your whole life. That'd suck.

Skins was better this week. 'I'm Katie fucking Fitch, who the fuck are you?' What a line. And, unsurprisingly, a facebook group of the same name was created mere seconds later.

Can we just skip the whole of March? Please? At least there's things happening in April, there's nothing in March.

I want nude heels, or navy ones. I should have bought both when they were in Penney's. But alas, story of my actual life, 'I was going to do this . . But then I didn't.' I'm all ideas and no motivation. I have a ridiculous amount of navy dresses, I should have navy shoes.

Comment me suggestions for summer plans. Cheap ones.

Panda Wish List

Blah Blah Blah

Midterm break, you're supposed to be fun. Now you're filled with boring study and trying to come up with art ideas.

But at least it's Pancake Tuesday, which I honestly prefer to Valentine's Day. I'm so full of lemony sugary goodness but it was worth it. I haven't been this full since that Subway in Dublin. Being too full is the worst feeling in the world. Blech.

Grey's Anatomy tonight. Yay for McGinge who has become my new favourite, couldn't believe he was in PJATLT.

Watched Stardust again today, maybe for the fourth time. Such a good, innocent little movie. Nothing like a bit of fantasy violence and Robert Deneiro zaniness to brighten a February Day.
